The Lazy Coconut
Old Lazy Coconut Mae Nam Beach Mae Nam Beach Bar

If someone ever asks you what brings together Colombia, Great Britain and Switzerland, here's the correct answer: The Lazy Coconut in Maenam, Koh Samui!

Aquileo, Marc and Korryn met in Geneva in 1999.

In the spring of 2003, the three of us went to Samui on holidays, and instantly fell in love with the place and the people. The following year, there was a repeat of those holidays, and that's when the idea of owning our own place on Samui took hold.

From that moment on, everything went very fast: land was secured on the beach, a holding company (Kenandefuss & Co. Ltd) was set-up, jobs were packed in, and in August of 2004 we took possession of the 25 square metre Lazy Coconut on Maenam Beach. We enhanced that original bar with multilevel decking and a lounging area, and installed the largest, most power-hungry freezer on the island.

Over the next couple of years, the Lazy Coconut thrived. In 2005, pub grub was added to what had, until then, been an exclusively liquid menu, and The Lazy Coconut reached cruising speed. Many friendships were established in the ensuing months, old friends came to visit, and great memories were formed.

Approaching the end of our lease on the beach, we started looking around for a plot of land in Maenam, which would be suitable for our next venture. Having found and secured the land, construction started in February 2007, and the Lazy Coconut (MkII) opened on October 5th 2007.

The rest is history...
